Effective date: 14 August 2026
The weather and environmental information provided through the LNX Solutions Weather Network is made available for general informational purposes.
While LNX Solutions takes reasonable steps to operate and maintain the network, weather observations are inherently subject to technical, environmental and communications-related limitations.
1. Nature of the Data
Weather data displayed through the LNX Weather Network is collected from remote weather stations, sensors, communications infrastructure and supporting systems operated or managed by LNX Solutions and, where applicable, third parties.
Measurements may include information such as:
- Temperature.
- Relative humidity.
- Rainfall.
- Wind speed.
- Wind direction.
- Wind gusts.
- Atmospheric pressure.
- Solar or environmental measurements.
- Other weather and environmental observations.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, readings represent conditions measured at the physical location of a particular weather station.
They should not necessarily be interpreted as representing conditions across an entire suburb, town, region or geographic area.
2. Accuracy of Weather Observations
LNX Solutions takes reasonable steps to maintain its weather station network and provide useful and reliable observations.
However, no guarantee is made regarding the accuracy, completeness, precision or reliability of any individual reading.
Measurements may be affected by factors including:
- Sensor accuracy and manufacturing tolerances.
- Calibration.
- Sensor age and deterioration.
- Equipment failure.
- Power interruptions.
- Communications or network failures.
- Software faults.
- Incorrect timestamps.
- Environmental interference.
- Nearby buildings, trees, terrain or other obstructions.
- Installation location and mounting height.
- Temporary maintenance or equipment changes.
- Extreme weather conditions.
Individual readings should therefore be treated as observational data rather than guaranteed measurements.
3. Delayed, Missing or Stale Data
Weather stations rely on communications, power and supporting infrastructure to transmit observations.
As a result, information displayed on the platform may occasionally be:
- Delayed.
- Incomplete.
- Missing.
- Duplicated.
- Incorrect.
- Temporarily unavailable.
- Out of date.
Users should consider the timestamp and reporting status of a weather station before relying on any displayed value.
A value displayed on the platform does not necessarily mean that the station is currently online or reporting normally.
4. Localised Weather Conditions
Weather conditions can vary significantly over relatively short distances.
A measurement from one LNX Weather Network station may therefore differ from conditions experienced at another location nearby.
Factors such as elevation, terrain, vegetation, buildings, coastline, wind exposure and localised rainfall can all influence individual measurements.
Users should take the physical location of the station into account when interpreting the data.
5. Not an Official Weather Service
The LNX Weather Network is an independent weather observation network.
It is not an official meteorological forecasting, aviation meteorology, maritime meteorology, severe-weather warning or emergency notification service.
Information displayed on the LNX Weather Network should not replace official forecasts, warnings, advisories or instructions issued by the South African Weather Service or another appropriate authority.
6. Safety-Critical Decisions
LNX Weather Network data should not be relied upon as the sole source of information where weather conditions could affect life, safety, property or critical infrastructure.
This includes, without limitation:
- Aviation.
- Maritime operations.
- Emergency response.
- Search and rescue.
- Fire management.
- Flood response.
- Construction activities.
- Industrial operations.
- Transport operations.
- Agricultural safety decisions.
- Outdoor events.
- Sporting events.
- Infrastructure operations.
- Other safety-critical activities.
Where weather conditions could materially affect safety, users should obtain information from appropriate official sources and independently verify local conditions.
7. Forecasts, Alerts and Derived Information
Where the LNX Weather Network displays forecasts, trends, calculations, alerts, estimates or other derived information, such information may be generated through automated processing, algorithms or third-party data sources.
These outputs are subject to the same general limitations described in this Disclaimer unless specifically stated otherwise.
Calculated or derived values should not be interpreted as certified or official meteorological products.
8. Service Availability
The LNX Weather Network is operated on a best-effort basis.
LNX Solutions does not guarantee continuous or uninterrupted availability of:
- The public website.
- Individual weather stations.
- Dashboards.
- Maps.
- Graphs.
- Historical information.
- APIs.
- Data feeds.
- Internet or communications links serving individual stations.
Services may become unavailable because of maintenance, equipment failure, power outages, network failures, weather damage or circumstances outside the reasonable control of LNX Solutions.
9. Historical Data
Historical weather observations are provided on a best-effort basis.
LNX Solutions does not guarantee that historical records are complete, continuous or permanently retained.
Historical datasets may contain gaps resulting from equipment failures, network interruptions, sensor replacements, maintenance or other technical issues.
10. Third-Party Information
The LNX Weather Network may incorporate, display or link to data and information supplied by third parties.
LNX Solutions does not control and cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness or continued availability of third-party information.
Separate terms and conditions may apply to third-party services and datasets.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, LNX Solutions makes no warranty, express or implied, regarding the accuracy, completeness, reliability, availability or suitability of information made available through the LNX Weather Network.
LNX Solutions accepts no liability for any direct or indirect loss, damage, expense, injury, interruption or other consequence arising from:
- Use of the LNX Weather Network.
- Reliance on weather observations.
- Reliance on inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delayed or missing data.
- Unavailability of a weather station or service.
- Decisions made using information obtained through the platform.
Users remain responsible for determining whether the information is appropriate for their particular purpose and for independently verifying information where appropriate.
Nothing in this Disclaimer is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
12. Data Use and Licensing
Permission to reproduce, access or reuse information made available through the LNX Weather Network is governed by the separate LNX Weather Network Data Use Policy.
The fact that weather data is publicly accessible does not grant unrestricted commercial, institutional or bulk-use rights.
Commercial, institutional, research or large-scale data access may require prior permission or a separate agreement with LNX Solutions.
13. Changes to this Disclaimer
LNX Solutions may update this Disclaimer from time to time as the weather station network, infrastructure and services evolve.
The latest version published on the LNX Weather Network website will apply.
